Do we need over 10 Thousand more new homes in Warwick & Leamington?

There is very strong Government pressure on Warwick District Council to find land for 10,800 new homes between 2006 and 2026. Land has already been earmarked for 2,650 homes (from those built since 2006 and on sites that already have planning permission). That means that

David Greenwood's Mayoral year concluded on 17th May, during which £ 28,000 was raised for his four chosen charities. One million still losing out despite Chancellor's by-election budget

At a Council budget meeting on Thursday 21st February £320,000 was taken to fund the purchase of Oakley Wood and a further £100,000 taken to fund the Rural Initiatives Scheme from money set aside for Affordable Housing.

Warwick District Council Short Changed by Labour

Warwick District Council have been short changed by the Government in last weeks cash settlement for local councils. At a rise of just 1% Warwick District has received one of the lowest settlements in the country. Warwick & Leamington MP James Plaskitt voted for the settlement and Kenilworth Conservative MP Jeremy Wright abstained along with all but three of his party colleagues.

The County Council have refused to reveal the likely cost of refurbishing the County Council council chamber at the County Hall in Warwick. A freedom of information request on the costs by the Liberal Democrats was rejected with a 'Public Interest Refusal Notice'.
