Linda Forbes meets Ming Campbell at the Spring Conference in Harrogate
At the Liberal Democrat conference in Harrogate, Linda Forbes met the new leader, Sir Menzies Campbell, and congratulated him on his election. Linda, who stood as the Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate for Warwick & Leamington in 2001 and 2005, had taken an active part in Chris Huhne's leadership bid and is delighted that Ming has invited him to join the Shadow Cabinet as Environment Spokesperson. Linda said, 'Ming's speech at conference was well received, and his emphasis on a liberal and radical approach to politics is welcome. Talk of left and right, economic or social wings of the party, is not what's needed now - with the Labour party and Cameron's new Conservatives each trying to outdo each other with ever more authoritarian policies at home and abroad. With Ming as our leader, keen to build on the success of the party to date, we look forward to improving our position locally as we fight the next general election on revised boundaries in Warwickshire.'
