The District Council is providing recycling banks to blocks of flats and schools. Cllr Margaret Begg commented, "We want everyone in the community to be able to access a recycling service and reduce the amount going to landfill. Budget limitations mean we will have to phase the new banks in gradually, but anybody interested in going on the list can contact me on 423822."
Action 21, the local sustainability group, have set up a new website "communityfreebay.co.uk". The site links up people who have things they don't want with others who need them. transactions are free of charge, but if you want to clear your house or garage of low value items, it is an ideal way of getting help.
Local Lib-Dem campaigner, Sidney Tyrrell, recommended a visit to the new Recycle Warehouse at the Princes Drive site. "Another way to get rid of unwanted items is to take them to the revamped shop which is now open 10am - 4pm every day except Tuesday. You might pick up a bargain while you are there."
