The District Council is making lottery applications of several million pounds to improve St John's Gardens, Pageant Gardens, St Nicholas Park, Priory Park and St Mary's Lands. The plan is to add to the current
garden trail from Hill Close Gardens, to Lord Leycester Gardens and Mill Street Gardens and to create a significant garden attraction for residents and visitors to enjoy, bringing more business to the town centre.
Other smaller gardens such as the Unitarian Church and the Friends' Meeting House are likely to join the scheme and the Warwick Castle Park Trust are continuing in their efforts to restore that area and gain public access.
Cllr Margaret Begg explained, "At present many people visit the castle but miss out on the town. A garden trail will draw a different group of visitors to the town itself and the green spaces will set off the fine historic buildings. I wish the bids every success and look forward to a greener Warwick in the future."
