Robert Cunliffe inspects Grafitti in Leamington
At a meeting of the North Leamington Safer Neighbourhoods Panel in February, funding was agreed to tackle the top 3 priorities:
1 Anti social behaviour
2 Graffiti
3 Speeding Traffic
- Targeting the routes home from the Town Centre on Friday and Saturday nights which are 'hotspots' for antisocial behaviour - extra police will be on the streets;
- Pay for the Town Council to employ contractors to clean up graffiti;
- Investigate providing more speed indicator flashing signs on problem roads;
The meeting was attended by representatives of the Police, Neighbourhood Watch, residents and your Liberal Democrat Councillors.
Cllr Sarah Boad commented 'Through this sort of action, we can cut crime and anti-social behaviour and improve the quality of life for Clarendon residents. Residents are telling us that many of these issues affect their lives and we taking action to overcome these problems.'
Robert Cunliffe, Chair of Clarendon Neighbourhood Watch attended the meeting and spoke out strongly in favour of spending money to remove graffiti. "Graffiti blights communities, it can be unsightly and offensive, and cost thousands of pounds to put right." A survey of residents also highlighted litter as a matter of concern. Litter hotspots can be reported by ringing 450000 so they can be tackled by the rapid response teams.
