The Warwick District Council Election Count was trialling a new Electronic Counting System which unfortunately ran into difficulties. A recount has been scheduled for tomorrow at 1pm. We will let you have the results as soon as they are known.
Alan Beddow the Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Spokesperson for Warwick and Leamington said, "This is disappointing for all involved in the election, the system appeared to reject a lot of votes that would have been accepted in a manual count, it was clear from what I saw on the screen that they were valid votes. This slowed the verification down to an impossible rate. Manor Ward which was up first for verification had around 700 rejects and took over two hours to verify before the system appeared to crash. I think everyone from all parties showed great patience and we shall reassemble for the count again tomorrow afternoon."
