At the moment the Parade is a battleground with roadworks disrupting both pedestrian and vehicle movement. However, the work is due to be completed by October 21st, and the result should be a major improvement to the main shopping street in time for the Christmas trade.

Cllr Margaret Begg commented, " It has been a nuisance living with continual roadworks, but it will be great to have wider, more even footways and be able to cross more easily. I am anxious that we find ways to keep it free of gum and litter. "We also expect the new street running between the end of Regent Street and left-hand side of the Town Hall to open for business at about the same time."
